South Shore Transfer Station Debris Rules

Scope: this guide reports only what each town publishes on its own website. Where a town publishes nothing on a point, this guide says nothing about it — silence here is not a statement that a town does or does not do something. Every rule below is linked to the page it comes from.

Hingham

  • The transfer station is permitted by MassDEP, which allows it to accept construction and demolition debris. — Hingham DPW
  • Every vehicle disposing of bulky, construction or demolition waste must be weighed at the scale and pay the per-ton fee — residential and commercial permits alike. — Hingham DPW
  • Commercial stickers are for Hingham debris only: $50 a year for Hingham residents, $150 a year for out-of-town. — Hingham DPW
  • Commercial C&D and bulky waste: $320 per ton, $45 minimum up to 300 lb, then $0.16 per lb. — Hingham DPW
  • Commercial Vehicle Permit holders may dispose of up to 5 cubic yards per visit; larger loads are rejected. — Hingham DPW

  • Residential C&D and bulky waste: $120 per ton, $15 minimum up to 250 lb, then $0.06 per lb — rates in effect May 1, 2021, approved by the Board of Selectmen March 16, 2021. — Town of Hingham

Quincy

Weymouth

  • Recyclable materials may be dropped off at the DPW recycling compactor; household rubbish is not accepted. — Weymouth DPW
